#7. The Brain and Skull
The human brain is responsible for simultaneously receiving and processing billions of bits of information. Although sometimes compared to a computer, this organ is far more sophisticated. It allows us to comprehend the lyrics of a song as we listen, compute complex mathematical problems, experience surprise or regret, and balance in sirsasana. This workshop will explore the fundamental “building block” of the brain, the neuron, and how this cell transmits information to produce higher-order brain functions, such as memory. We will also consider key protective and supportive features of the brain, including the cranium. The importance of inversions for the central nervous system will also be discussed.
